The tegnùe are biogenic carbonate rocks, that is built by marine organisms, usually superimposed on hard substrates formed prior to the consolidation of sands. It is basically true "reef" natural, developed in the last 3-4,000 years, and that differ from tropical because the main bodies builders here are not corals but rather calcareous red algae, called "Corallinaceae." ". Divers plunge here can appreciate the great variety of life forms that inhabit these waters, unique in the Mediterranean. The natural value of this habitat has been recognized and protected by the establishment in August 2002 of a Biological Protection Zone which introduced a ban on fishing.
